How Tasty Yet Healthy Started

The Full Story

First I know you are reading this because you want to make a change in your life. You have tried diets, watched food documentaries, joined gyms, and even maybe been apart of support groups. I did all these things too. Nothing worked.

When I got married, 20 years ago, I was 125 lbs. I know its normal to gain weight when you get married. But I had more issues than just gaining a few pounds. It wasn't until after my second son that the doctors realized I had PCOS (Polycystic
Ovary Syndrome). This has actually become very common in recent years. But one of the side effects is that you gain weight very easy and it is extremely difficult to lose. But I still tried. I tried low carb, no carbs, counting my grams of sugar, counting calories, and counting points. I even got a personal trainer at the gym. The best I could ever do was lose 20 lbs. But it wouldn't take long and that 20lbs was back pretty quickly. And its because everything I did was a diet and not a complete change in my life. When you think diet, you think short term, that there will be an end to it once you reach your goal. But that's the problem. You can't go back to what you were eating before because the weight comes back with a vengeance. Sometimes you gain back more than what you lost.

So, how did I make a change? Well, it was my health. Randomly, I had an extreme migraine that caused seizures and effected my motor skills. They did all kinds of testing in the hospital and couldn't find anything other than it had to be my migraines had changed. So, my research began. What could I do to make sure this never happens again? Having multiple seizures is something that I never wanted to experience again.

Everything I read said that most migraines are stemmed from the food you eat. So, I pretty much switched my diet from anything enriched, processed, artificial flavors and colors, to everything whole grain and whole food. I am a southern home cook, so taking out all the fried foods has been hard to do. But I've done it. I've stuck to it for almost 2 years now. I have lost over 65lbs. I sleep better, wake up better, and I have more energy.

My goal at Tasty Yet Healthy is to help you be successful at making a life change for yourself and your family. I will share with you what I eat, why I eat it, tips on meal prepping, and meal planning.
